Dining Sosua & Cabarete

Dining Out

Dining out: You’ll find a good selection of restaurants in and around the Sosua and Cabarete area. As a rule of thumb, prices generally tend to be a little cheaper in the Sosua area. Of course dining out is a personal experiences, and every one of us has different tastes and expectations. It’s always a good idea to have a look and check reviews online, or just ask around, it’s a good way to begin a conversation and make new friends

Dining Out Sosua

Sosua Beach:

Daytime dining only on Sosua beach, but it’s a beautiful place with a good selection of bars and restaurants, situated on one long shanty style sandy walkway that goes from one end of the beach to the other. If you’re looking for a quieter experience Monday to Thursday is a good time to visit, from Friday on the ambiance kicks into another gear as weekend visitors come to enjoy one of The Dominican Republic’s finest beaches.

Mosha’s Reggae Lounge: Sosua Beach #85

Located on Sosua Beach #85, Mosha’s Reggae Lounge is owned and operated by a friendly Jamaican chef, and the restaurant caters to both Jamaican cuisine and culture. Mosha’s Reggae lounge gets good online reviews for both it’s food, and the hospitality of the owner. They also cater to vegetarians which is something not commonly found on Sosua Beach. Firm favorites are the authentic jerk dishes, personally I would go for the Jamaican style crab cakes. Sosua Beach is a great place to kick back, enjoy a couple of cold drinks and watch the world go by.

Set in beautiful boutique hotel Casa Veintiuno, Restaurant Casa Veintiuno is a beautiful place to dine if you’re looking to dress up a little and impress a friend. Owners Saskia and Marc are a great team and truly want you to have the best experience with them possible. Saskia a wonderful hostess, and Marc an amazing chef. Margot Restaurant – central Sosua

Very pleasant well run restaurant with good food at a reasonable price. Takeaway service is also available. I’ve eaten here quite a few times and always had a good experience. The menu is extensive and the owners certainly know their business. Definitely worth a visit if your looking for a good restaurant experience. My personal favorite is the shrimp curry which I end up having and enjoying each time I visit.

Bologna Ristorante Pizzeria

Good well established Italian restaurant with quite an extensive menu. Always decent service and affordably priced, again offering delivery service with good pizza from a brick pizza oven. Visited recently and was impressed and thoroughly enjoyed their Ceviche and Beef Wellington.

Jolly Roger Bar & Grill

Located on the main high street Pedro Clisante, Jolly Roger is a cool place to hang out and a good friendly place to meet the ex pat crowd. Tasty pub grub with special meal offerings throughout the week such as Chinese food for a very reasonable price. They also offer meals on special occasions such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. A good place to hang out with friendly owners Patty & Kelly, lots of fun activities, often times live music, weekend Thieves Market and lots more. Click here for more info.

Dining Out Cabarete

Cabarete Beach

Great place to spend the day relaxing on the beach, but also a great place to spend the evening dining out under the stars looking out to the ocean. There are a good selection of bars and restaurants actually on the beach, and it’s a pretty cool place to enjoy a sun-downer and take advantage of the happy hour promotions that are generally available between 5 and 7 pm.

La Casita De Papi

A personal favorite of mine, located centrally right on Cabarete Beach La Casita de Papi is a well established restaurant famous for it’s own signature flavorful dishes. The shrimp is exceptional, but it’s the sauce they use that seals the deal and it’s a very closely guarded secret that makes Papi’s the busiest restaurant on Cabarete Beach. In high season (December – March) be sure to book in advance, for more information click here.

Bliss Restaurant

Bliss Restaurant is the perfect place of you are looking to dress up a little and enjoy a classy, poolside romantic environment. Bliss offers a good selection of international cuisine specializing more in Italian and Mediterranean style dishes with a good selection of seafood on the menu. This restaurant also caters for special dietry needs and offers a good selection for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners. For more information and for reservations click here.

Lax Ojo

A good beach location and the perfect place to enjoy a comfortable happy hour on the comfortable sofas and take in the view. Lax offers a selection of good pub food, pizza, nachos so it’s the perfect place to chill, enjoy a few cold drinks and a casual easy atmosphere. If you want to go dancing, Lax is the place and is generally open until the small hours so the place to be if you want to try your hand at Merengue, Bachata or Salsa.

Ceiba Cafe and Pizzeria

Ceiba Cafe and PizzeriaNot in central Cabarete, but a nice little restaurant and pizzeria, reasonably priced located just at the entrance of Perla Marina which is a well known gated community situated on the left hand side as you head east just before Cabarete. Great online reviews and a pleasant place to eat some good pizza or calzone, also good if you’re looking for a takeaway.
