Dominican Airports
The north coast of The Dominican Republic is served by two International airports, Puerto Plata International Airport (POP) and Cibao International Airport (Santiago or STI)
Puerto Plata International Airport – POP is centrally located with the city of Puerto Plata just 25 minutes drive to the east, and the resort towns of Sosua and Cabarete 20 and 45 minutes drive respectfully. The airport was opened in 1979 and has a runway 3,081 meters in length and 46 meters wide and can receive Boeing 747’s and Airbus 340 wide bodied aircraft.
The airport was remodeled in 2013/14 and has 10 gates, 5 of which have boarding bridges. The airport is comfortable with a good selection of bars, restaurants and ample parking.
Always check for prices between POP and STI as you will often finds flights comparably cheaper to and from Santiago although the transfer takes a little longer.

As mentioned above, it’s always a good idea to compare prices between Puerto Plata Airport and Santiago Airport as savings through Santiago can often be considerable.
