Surfing at Encuentro Beach: Surfing is without a way of life that is incredibly good for the mind, body and soul. I say way of life, because that’s what it is, and it’s never too late to give it a go. Encuentro Beach is located on the main highway between Sosua and Cabarete and has 5 surf breaks and is suitable for beginners as well as technically advanced surfers. So if you’ve never been surfing before, now is your chance. The good news is that there are are a good selection of surf schools for you to choose from and the cost of lessons are very reasonable. Private lessons start from around U$45 for 2 hours with board rental approximately U$20. Classes are given before you enter the water to explain very clearly the procedures and process of surfing. Beginner boards are larger, longer and stable and your instructor will be with you at all times to help you catch that first magical wave.
